What exactly is ‘the cloud’?
Cloud computing can be confusing if you don’t understand the basics. Simply put, cloud computing is when you store data on online servers as opposed to the traditional method of storing data on hardware within the office. But cloud computing offers more than just data storage. It allows for multiple parties to access various parts of the cloud and allow for streamlined project coordination.
Where are the WeCloud Servers Located?
Our servers are located on a secure server farm in Johannesburg with battery and generator back-up. We ensure that our systems are running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so that you can always access your cloud.
Do I need a strong internet connection in order to access my cloud?
In order to access your cloud, you will need an internet connection but it needn’t be an incredibly strong one. Obviously the higher your internet speed the better, but 3G works just fine for gaining cloud access and sharing files. With so many establishments offering free Wi-Fi these days, getting onto your cloud is easy whether you’re in the office or out and about!
Can I customise my cloud experience?
Yes! The cloud can be totally customised so that certain employees have access to specific files. Depending on the size of your business, you may also want to make use of file-sharing and project-management apps to assist in streamlining collaborative projects. As your business expands or downsizes, you can fluctuate the size and cost of your cloud services with us.
How do I know if my business should be changing over to cloud-based services?
If your business relies on your data and software being safe and secure and letting you have the ability of working from anywhere, chances are that cloud-based services will assist in the effective running of your business. If employees regularly need to share files and info, cloud computing will add additional convenience.
What devices can I access my cloud from?
WeCloud ensures that you are able to access your cloud from a range of devices, including cell phones and tablets. This allows you to work on the go, with whatever device you may have available. If you had to lose your primary device, you could access all data and software through another device. Your device essentially becomes a portal to access all your data and software and is not required to hold any software and or data on it.
Can multiple people access the cloud?
You can grant access to certain info/data in the cloud to employees of your choice. Our servers are very powerful and can handle multiple parties on the cloud at one time. With all your staff operating on the cloud, you’ll easily be able to track the progress of projects, and share data instantly.
Does all my software sit on the cloud too?
Yes, that is correct. All your Office software like Word, Outlook and Excel will all sit on the cloud. The benefit to this is that you only need one user account for all your staff to make use of the software, no more purchasing multiple users for these software packages. If you have any specific software requirements these can also be uploaded to the cloud. If the software you use requires a powerful computer with a lot of ram, this is no problem, as we can simply allocate more ram to your cloud server in order to run the software smoothly. This eliminates the need for high powered expensive computers in order to run resource heavy software.
Can I still print from Pastel if it is on the remote Server?
You will still be able to print to most of the printers you are currently using. The printer drivers for the specific printer might need to be installed on the server.
How fast does my internet need to be?
Internet access speeds have increased substantially over the last couple of years. We have found that a 4MB ADSL or 3G is usually sufficient for a decent connection.
How will I be Billed?
The service is provided on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis and is billed monthly with a one month cancellation period.
